Rhododendron Real Estate
Rhododendron is an unincorporated community in Clackamas County, Oregon, United States. It is located within the Mount Hood Corridor, between Government Camp and Zigzag along U.S. Route 26 (aka the Mount Hood Scenic Byway). It is one of the communities that make up the Villages at Mount Hood.
According to Oregon Geographic Names, a post office was established in the area in 1909 and named "Rowe", after a mayor of Portland, Oregon, Henry S. Rowe. The community was renamed Rhododendron in 1920, (after being named "Zig Zag" and "Zigzag", a name that was then reused for the current community of Zigzag) because of the large number of rhododendrons growing near there.
Rhododendron’s area stretches from the Barlow Trail Road area on the north side of the Sandy River, up Lolo pass Road and the Rhododendron proper area with a small Business district. There are many single family homes and beautiful custom luxury homes plus many cozy cabins on private land and Forest Service Leased land.
Some of the local neighborhoods include Glacier View Estates, Timberline Rim, Zig Zag Village and the Leased land cabins primarily above the town of Rhododendron.
